Groups
for play therapy and social skills training (SST) are available.
Please call for these schedules. Individual SST is also available.
Brief Intensive Therapy Skills (BITS for Fun) are social skills
training groups. Two week courses with 3 sessions per week are
designed for family going on summer vacations. Three BITS for Fun
groups are offered (BITS 1, 2, and 3, which are different skill
levels) for children in preschool, elementary, and young adolescent
age groups. Call to find out more about these fun groups!
Group minimum is 4 and maximum is 6. Sessions are $50 each and
groups are paid in full in advance. There are no make-up sessions
due to the time-frame and intensity.
You may contact the mental health section of your insurance company
to see if they pay, as some may reimburse sessions for this treatment.
There is a pre-assessment for group that requires contact with
parents and child to determine appropriateness for each group.
Play Therapy groups for preschool children are offered throughout
the year and summer.
Summer schedule: Children ages 3 - 4 on
Mondays 10 - 1 a.m.
Limit of 3 - 4 children, depending on the complexity of the children.
Dr. Wallingford completed a certification program for Play Therapy
in June of 2006. She holds a certificate for dealing with Chronic
and Disabling Disorders from the Child Development Center at The
University of Kansas Medical Center.
Scholarships are available on a sliding scale. The majority of
children seen are fee-for-service. If requested, Dr. Wallingford
will inquire about your insurance company's willingness
to seek out-of-network services.
