Children
and adolescents are assisted through a variety of treatment approaches.
Younger children benefit from activities that address their development
through play therapy or behavior management. Older children benefit
from cognitive-behavioral approach. Parents are considered active
participants in therapy in very young children's therapy.
Parent training teaches parents how to respond to difficult or
inappropriate behaviors of their children.

Treatments issues might include: Behavior problems, anxiety, depression,
grief, and childhood diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Reactive
Attachment Disorders, Selective Mutism, and social skills training
(SST). Other diagnoses focus on developmental issues such as toilet
training and those for special needs children. Developmental issues
and eating disorders in young children are specialty areas of Dr.
Wallingford. Children with feeding tubes and those reluctant to
eat are likely be helped. Dr. Wallingford may work in conjunction
with specialists at Children's Mercy Hospital to help your
child regain skills.
