Dr. Wallingford's
training includes work with children that have chronic disabilities.
She is a Licensed Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Developmental
and Child Psychology, and an Advanced Practice Nurse with a Masters
of Science in Nursing. She worked at Children's Mercy
Hospital as a Neurology Nurse Specialist and Orthopedic Nurse
Specialist. Following post-graduate psychology training at Children's
Mercy Hospital in Developmental and Behavioral Sciences, she
received a Masters in Human Development.
In the Child Development Center at KU Medical Center, Dr. Wallingford
completed a psychology internship as a Psychology Trainee working
with children with chronic and disabling illnesses. As a postdoctoral
Psychology Fellow at KU Medical Center in the Department of Psychiatry
and Behavioral Sciences, she provided assessments and psychotherapy
services to the Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for
in-patient and out-patient clinics, as well as counseling services
to the Student Counseling Center.
Dr. Wallingford is a member of the Association for Play Therapy.
She is a member and serves on the Greater Kansas City Area Psychological
Association Board executive board and is a member of the Kansas
Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Association.
